happenings

Some recent happenings...Pancakes for breakfast.  Always a good idea.  And also, a trip to the book shop that included all kinds of goodies.  One is the new Amos Lee album, Mission Bell.  It's really great.  Another is a book written by Sara Gruen that's been around for a while, but I'm just now getting to it...Water for Elephants.  Has anyone read it?  It's always an exciting day when I start a new book.  I just love them.  The feel of the crisp, thin pages.  The smell of the paper.  The world I live in when I read.  All of it :)  The book store is one of my all time favorite places to be.  And then there was last night's Fun Friday homemade dinner with sliced plum tomatoes and fresh buffalo mozzarella drizzled with olive oil, italian spices, and basil.  That was just the beginning.  Following that appetizer special was linguine and tomato baked chicken with bits of melted cheese, basil, and asparagus.  Delicious.

one of my faves, i read it every year

And I saw this on my way home.  Don't you love the sky before a storm?...always a thing to behold.
 Happy Weekend!

  1. Hi Jenna,
I'm so enjoying your blog. You're a wonderful, talented and loving girl. AND you're a fellow bibliophile! There's nothing like a new book. When I came to Arizona I 39 boxes full of books! I don't read a lot of fiction, but just started reading "Anna Kareninna" just because I've never read it. At 52 it's just time!

Anyway, sweet girl, just wanted to leave you a note. Enjoy your precious family today!

  3. yeeeessss. I love books. I think I could live in a library if I had a box full of provisions regularly refilled (aka delicious snacks and tea). The hubs and I both agree that to have a perfect day pancakes must be present, so I am sure that with that, you had the perfect day :)
I have never read to kill a mocking bird but I heard it is wonderfully written. Right now I am reading the third girl by agatha christie. I love that woman.

  4. Oh Suzanne...you are so sweet! Thank you for your kind words. I can only imagine how many bookshelves all those boxes amount to in your house :) Fun! I hold on to all of mine, too, because I often reread my favorites. I've never read Anna Karenina so...how is it so far. I'm always on the lookout for new reads! Hope you're doing well.

Brooke- I never read that either and I guess it's one I should. Do you know they are making a movie of Atlas Shrugged with Angelina Jolie? I wonder how that's gonna be. Oh, and also...I am making you a list of some other reads from my collection and will get it to you soon.

Keia- snacks, tea, books. what more could a gal want?! To Kill a Mockingbird is a gem, you might want to read it someday. Good idea...Agatha Christie! I think I'll read one of hers after Water for Elephants. Thanks!!

  5. Sounds like you've been having a good time lately! I agree with you on loving book stores, I could spend all day in them - there are just always so many wonderful books to look at. Also, I love the look of those dishes, experimenting in the kitchen is always fun (but especially when the results are good, I've had a couple of disasters lately lol).

  6. Yes, Eadaoin, we have been having fun :) Yup, it's nice when a meal turns out well. But, don't worry about the messes in you kitchen too much. I've made my share of so-so creations in the kitchen. Just the other day I tried making fried green tomatoes because they always look so good in the movies. However, I used whatever ingredients I had and they were just...alright. Nothing to write home about :)

  7. I just do not see Angelina Jolie as Dagny at all. Hmmm.

    I love Agatha Christie too.
